US islands range from tropical Hawaii to maritime New England, and Nantucket's working season is shaped by its northern latitude, so summer is when the wharf is busiest. English is the main language on the island. For anyone combining work with a Nantucket stay, a desk on Old South Wharf puts the harbour, the town and the ferry docks all within a short walk.
