Festivals in Murter Town is a seasonal programme of cultural events held in the harbour and central square of Murter, a fishing town on the island of Murter in Šibenik-Knin County. The events run from late June to early September, featuring live music, traditional Dalmatian klapa singing, and local food stalls. Each festival evening showcases a different theme, from folk dance to jazz, drawing both residents and visitors.
What to expect
- Evening concerts start at 21:00 and last about two hours, with seating on the harbour front.
- Klapa singing performances use only vocal harmonies, with no instruments, in the Dalmatian a cappella style.
- A weekly fish night includes grilled sardines and local white wine, served from wooden trestle tables.
- Children's workshops run on Saturday mornings, teaching traditional mask-making and olive wreath weaving.
- The finale on 15 August features a firework display over the bay, visible from the entire promenade.
- Most events are free, but the seafood dinner nights require a ticket purchased at the tourist office.
