Island cooking blends fresh seafood with South Asian, African and French influences, which suits active visitors refuelling after a workout. Travellers reach the Indian Ocean islands by international flights and by ferries and flights between the islands. English, French and local languages are all used on Mauritius, so visitors can usually get by in several tongues.
