Hurricane Limited
About
Hurricane Limited, on Maui, is a clothing store at 3639 Baldwin Ave, Makawao, HI 96768, in the upcountry town of Makawao. The shop has an online presence at hurricanemaui.com.
First-time visitors should expect a compact retail space stocked with clothing, the sort of shop where browsing takes a short while. Visitors rate it 4.6 out of 5 from 14 reviews, a small but favourable set of scores.
Makawao sits in the island's upcountry area, reached by road from Paia and Wailuku, with the resort areas of Kihei, Wailea and Kaanapali further south and west. Lahaina and Hana lie at greater distances along the island's routes.
Trade winds blow from the northeast across Hawaii, bringing most rain to the windward coasts, which shapes the weather upcountry compared with the drier resort side. Hawaii is a chain of volcanic islands formed as the Pacific Plate moved over a hotspot. Spam, rice and macaroni salad appear widely in Hawaiian home cooking and lunch plates, a useful thing to know when stopping in Makawao for a meal.
