Maui forms part of the Hawaiian Islands, where the climate is tropical and the leeward coasts stay drier and sunnier through the year, with the wetter season generally running November-March. Food on the island blends fresh seafood, poke, plate lunches and tropical fruit, so meals around a stay tend to be locally rooted. Hawaii is served by direct flights from the US mainland, with inter-island flights and ferries between the main islands. English and Hawaiian are the main languages, which makes navigating the island straightforward for most travellers. Kahului's central position means the hotel works as a base for reaching Wailuku and Makawao as well as the coast.
