ABC Stores
About
Found on Maui, ABC Stores operates from 3511 Lower Honoapiilani Rd in the Lahaina area, with the address listed against Island Deli, 47 Honokowai. The store sits in the Honokowai section of the island's western coast, where the road runs between Lahaina and Kaanapali.
Humpback whales migrate to Hawaiian waters to breed between roughly November and May, which is when the coastal route between Lahaina and Kaanapali carries the most traffic. Drivers heading north from Lahaina or south from Kaanapali pass through Honokowai, so reaching the store from either resort area is straightforward. A 4.4 out of 5 score across 157 reviews reflects steady custom from residents and visitors alike, and the store keeps a website at http://www.abcstores.com/. Kaanapali lies close by, so the surrounding district supplies much of the passing trade.
Hawaiian food includes plate lunches, poke made from raw fish, and kalua pork cooked in an imu earth oven, and Hawaiian culture includes hula dance, oli chants and the voyaging traditions of Polynesian navigators. The Hawaiian Islands themselves are a volcanic chain formed as the Pacific Plate moved over a hotspot, and Maui sits at the centre of that chain. Lahaina, Kihei, Paia, Kaanapali, Wailea, Hana, Makawao and Wailuku all fall within the island's settled areas, so a stop here fits naturally into a day of moving between them.
