Coffee Shops in Malta is a self-guided tour of the island's specialty coffee scene, located across Valletta, Sliema, and Mdina. The activity maps out 12 independent roasteries and cafés, each with a distinct brewing style and local pastry pairing. It operates daily from 8:00 to 18:00, with a printed route card and tasting notes provided at the starting point.
What to expect
- Route covers 12 cafés over 3.5 hours, with 20 minutes allocated per stop for a tasting and short walk between venues
- Includes one espresso-based drink and one traditional Maltese pastizz at each of the first six stops
- Visitors receive a stamp card to collect at each location, redeemable for a free bag of locally roasted beans at the final café
- Each café features a visible pour-over bar, and baristas demonstrate the grind-to-cup process for the house blend
- Suits solo travellers and small groups who want a structured alternative to random café hopping, with a map that avoids tourist-heavy squares
