Festivals in Palma is a year-round programme of cultural celebrations held across the city of Palma, Mallorca. It encompasses patron saint feasts, religious processions, live music, and traditional dances in plazas and historic venues. Each event reflects the island's heritage, from the January Sant Antoni bonfires to the September Mare de Déu de la Salut festivities.
What to expect
- Sant Antoni (mid-January): night-time bonfires, demon-runner correfocs, and free grilled sausages in Plaça de Cort.
- Sant Sebastià (late January): a full weekend of open-air concerts on Passeig del Born, plus a human tower (castell) demonstration by local colles.
- Setmana Santa (Holy Week): processions with hooded penitents and ornate floats, held nightly from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday.
- Nit de Sant Joan (23 June): beach bonfires at Platja de Can Pere Antoni, with drum circles and fire-jumping rituals until dawn.
- Festa de l'Estendard (31 December): a medieval re-enactment with flag bearers and civic parade from the Town Hall to the Cathedral.
- Most events are free and open-air, lasting 2–6 hours, and suit families, couples, and solo travellers who want local immersion.
