Artisan Markets in Mabul Island is a community-run bazaar on the island's main sandy path, near the dive resorts. It operates daily from late afternoon until sunset, offering handcrafted items from local Bajau and Suluk makers. The market provides a direct way to purchase souvenirs while supporting island households.
What to expect
- Open daily from 4 PM to 6:30 PM, with stalls set up along the 300-metre beachfront walkway
- Browse woven pandanus mats, coconut-shell jewellery, and hand-carved wooden fish, all priced between RM 5 and RM 50
- Watch live demonstrations of traditional mat weaving and pearl-shell polishing by the artisans
- Buy fresh grilled squid and corn-on-the-cob from adjacent food stalls, with meals costing RM 8 to RM 15
