Lombok and its neighbouring islands sit in a tropical climate shaped by two monsoons, with the drier months generally falling between May and September and the wetter season running from October to April. Indonesian food is bold and spice-driven, built around rice, satay, grilled fish, and fresh tropical fruit. Domestic flights and fast boats link the islands, with international airports on the main islands. Indonesian is the main language, while English is common in tourist areas such as Senggigi.
