Diving & Snorkeling in San Bartolomé is a guided underwater activity based in the inland municipality of San Bartolomé, Lanzarote, with excursions to the island's coastal marine reserves. Participants explore volcanic rock formations, lava tubes, and seagrass beds teeming with Atlantic fish species. The activity operates year-round, with water temperatures ranging from 18°C in winter to 24°C in summer.
What to expect
- Sessions last 2.5 hours, including a 45-minute dive or snorkel at a site selected by the guide based on daily conditions.
- All equipment is provided: mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit, and buoyancy control device for divers; weights and tanks are included for certified divers.
- Sites include the Playa Chica reef, the Blue Hole lava tube, and the Muelle de Puerto del Carmen wall, each with visibility up to 20 metres.
- Divers see groupers, moray eels, trumpetfish, and occasionally stingrays; snorkellers observe bream, damselfish, and octopus in shallow rocky areas.
- Suitable for beginners and certified divers; introductory dives for novices include a 15-minute shore-based skills session before entering the water.
- Transport from San Bartolomé town centre to the coastal launch point is provided, with a maximum group size of 8 participants per guide.
