Supermarkets & Groceries in San Sebastián

About this experience

What to expect

• Visit the largest supermarket, HiperDino, on Calle Ruiz de Padrón, which stocks local cheeses, palm honey, and Gomeran wines alongside standard groceries.
• Expect a typical 30-45 minute shopping trip for a weekly household shop, with most stores open Monday to Saturday from 8:30 to 21:00.
• Fresh produce sections offer island-grown tomatoes, bananas, and avocados, often priced lower than in tourist resorts.
• Self-service checkouts are available at the main branch, but smaller shops require cash payment and operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
• The stores cater to self-catering holidaymakers, with a selection of picnic supplies, bottled water, and beach snacks within a 5-minute walk of the ferry terminal.
• For speciality items like gluten-free bread or imported British goods, the larger supermarket has a dedicated international foods aisle.
