About this experience

Surf Lessons in Kanala is a guided surfing programme on the sheltered bay of Kanala, on the west coast of Kythnos. The lessons take place in calm, shallow waters with consistent summer meltemi winds, making the spot suitable for first-time surfers. A certified instructor provides all equipment and stays in the water with each student throughout the session.

What to expect

90-minute session with a certified instructor, including a 15-minute land-based safety and paddle technique briefing
Soft-top surfboard, leash, and wetsuit (3/2mm) provided for all participants
Groups are capped at 6 students per instructor, with individual feedback after each wave
Lessons run daily from 10:00 to 18:00 between June and September, with morning sessions offering the calmest water
Suitable for ages 8 and up; non-swimmers can use a provided buoyancy vest and stay in waist-deep water
After the lesson, you can rinse off in the outdoor freshwater shower and store your gear in the on-site lockers
