Campsites in Dryopida are a network of designated camping areas in the village of Dryopida, on the island of Kythnos, Greece. These sites sit among terraced hillsides and dry-stone walls, within a 15-minute walk of the village's marble-paved lanes and the Cave of Katafiki. Campers use the sites as a base for hiking to the beaches of Martinakia and Episkopi, each about 3 kilometres away.
What to expect
- Pitches are unmarked and set on packed earth or gravel, with no assigned spots; arrive early in summer to secure a level area.
- Each site provides a shared water tap and a basic pit toilet; there is no electricity, so bring a solar charger or power bank.
- You will see wild goats and hear goat bells from nearby herds, especially at dawn and dusk, as the sites border grazing land.
- The camping season runs from May to October; nights are cool even in July, with temperatures dropping to 18°C, so a warm sleeping bag is needed.
- Suitable for self-sufficient campers with their own tent, stove, and food supplies; the nearest mini-market in Dryopida is a 20-minute walk.
