Horseback Riding in Merichas is a guided trail ride along the coastal paths of Kythnos, starting from the port village of Merichas. Riders follow sandy tracks and low scrubland with views over the Aegean Sea and neighbouring islands. The activity operates with small groups and horses suited to both beginners and experienced riders.
What to expect
- Rides last 1.5 to 2 hours, covering roughly 8 kilometres of coastal terrain
- Helmets and a safety briefing are provided before mounting
- The route passes the chapel of Agios Nikolaos and the old stone windmill above the harbour
- Suitable for riders aged 12 and over; weight limit of 90 kilograms applies
- Groups are capped at six riders, with one guide leading and one assistant at the rear
- Water for riders and a short rest stop for horses are included midway
