Java's wet season can bring rough seas that delay ferry crossings between Indonesian islands, which is worth noting for travellers moving between regions. Indonesian meals are commonly served with sambal chilli paste, and street stalls sell noodles, satay and tempeh, which gives visitors a sense of the local food culture around Batu.
