Surf Lessons in Treasure Beach is a beginner-friendly surf school located on the south coast of Jamaica, offering guided instruction on the island's calm, reef-protected bay. The lessons pair certified local surfers with small groups or private students, using soft-top boards and wetsuit-free warm water. Each session focuses on wave reading, paddle technique, and standing up safely in waist-deep water.
What to expect
- Lesson durations range from 90 minutes to 3 hours, with morning sessions starting at 8:00 AM to catch the gentlest swell
- All equipment is included: a soft-top surfboard, leash, and reef-safe sunscreen, with no extra rental fees
- You will practise pop-up drills on the sand before entering the water, then catch white-water waves under direct one-on-one coaching
- The teaching area is a shallow, sandy-bottomed cove with no rocks or strong currents, suitable for first-timers and children aged 8 and up
- Each lesson ends with a video review of your paddling and pop-up form, so you can see your progress on your own phone
- Group rates apply for 2 to 4 people, and private sessions are available for those who want focused attention on turns or duck-diving
