Restaurants & Dining in Discovery Bay

About this experience

What to expect

• Expect open-air seating at most venues, with meals served from 11:00 to 21:00 daily, though hours shorten on Sundays.
• Local dishes include ackee and saltfish, brown stew chicken, and escovitch fish, with prices from 800 to 2,500 Jamaican dollars per plate.
• Several spots offer fresh lobster and snapper caught that morning, grilled over pimento wood at roadside stalls near the pier.
• You will see and hear reggae or dancehall music played at moderate volume, with occasional live bands on Friday and Saturday nights.
• Portions are large, typically enough for two, and most kitchens serve festival (fried dumpling) or bammy (cassava flatbread) as sides.
• This dining suits budget travellers and locals alike, with no dress code and cash (JMD) preferred over cards at smaller establishments.
