Summer festas for patron saints bring processions, band music and fireworks through the season. Peak season runs from June to September, when ferries fill and coastal hotels book out. Capers, olives, aubergines and citrus grow on the warmer islands, and Pantelleria capers are sold widely. Loggerhead turtles nest on some island beaches, and Eleonora's falcon breeds on the cliffs.
