Surf Lessons in Gort na gCapall is a guided surfing session on the Atlantic coast of Inishmore, the largest of the Aran Islands. The lesson takes place at a sheltered beach near the village, with equipment and a certified instructor provided. Participants learn basic paddling, standing, and wave-riding techniques in small-group sessions lasting two hours.
What to expect
- Two-hour group lesson with a maximum of six participants per instructor
- Includes wetsuit, surfboard, and leash; bring your own towel and swimsuit
- Starts with a 20-minute dry-land demonstration on the sand, covering stance and safety
- Practise in waist-deep water with gentle rolling waves, suitable for beginners aged 10 and up
- Instructor remains in the water with you, giving individual feedback on each wave attempt
- After the session, rinse off in the outdoor freshwater shower and use the on-site changing hut
