Diving & Snorkeling in Inishbofin Village is a guided underwater activity based on Inishbofin Island, off the Connemara coast. The clear Atlantic waters here hold kelp forests, rocky reefs, and occasional seals, with dive sites suited to both beginners and certified divers. The island's sheltered harbour provides calm entry points, while exposed sites offer drift dives for experienced participants.
What to expect
- Two-hour guided sessions with wetsuit, mask, fins, and tank or snorkel gear included
- Sites range from the sheltered harbour wall (5-8 metres deep) to the open-water reef at Stags Rock (12-20 metres)
- Sightings of grey seals, pollock, and dogfish are common on the kelp-covered granite boulders
- Suitable for first-time snorkellers and certified divers; a drysuit is available for colder months
- Sessions run daily from May to September, with a maximum of six participants per guide
- After the dive, rinse gear at the village jetty and warm up at the nearby café with hot soup and bread
