Wine Tasting in Vlychos is a guided tasting session held at a family-run winery on the island of Hydra, in the small harbour village of Vlychos. Participants sample five local wines paired with traditional meze, while learning about the island's viticulture from the producer. The session lasts 90 minutes and takes place on a terrace overlooking the Aegean Sea.
What to expect
- Taste five wines, including a rare white from the local Skyladi grape, each paired with a specific meze dish.
- Hear the winemaker explain the vineyard's organic practices and the challenges of cultivating vines on Hydra's rocky terrain.
- Walk through the terraced vineyard (approx. 200 metres from the tasting terrace) to see the vines and the stone-built press house.
- Receive a tasting card with tasting notes and a map of the vineyard to keep as a souvenir.
- Suitable for adults aged 18 and over; groups are limited to 12 people to ensure a personal atmosphere.
- The session runs daily at 17:00 from April to October, with a duration of 90 minutes.
