Campsites in Vlychos is a designated camping area on the island of Hydra, located along the coastal path between Vlychos beach and the neighbouring coves. It offers basic tent pitches with direct access to swimming spots and a small taverna nearby. The site operates from May to October and requires campers to bring their own tents and equipment.
What to expect
- Pitches are set on a terraced hillside with shade from olive and pine trees, each with a view of the Saronic Gulf.
- A shared outdoor shower and two compost toilets are the only facilities; no electricity or running water taps are provided.
- The nearest taverna, 200 metres away, serves grilled fish and cold drinks, and is open from noon until sunset.
- Campers walk 10 minutes to Vlychos beach for pebble swimming, or 30 minutes along the coastal trail to Hydra town's harbour.
- The site suits self-sufficient travellers with lightweight gear, as all supplies must be carried on foot from the port.
- Nightly fee is 8 euros per tent, paid in cash to the on-site caretaker who arrives at 18:00.
