Camel Riding in Vlychos is a guided camel trek along the rocky shoreline of Hydra’s Vlychos beach, offering a slow-paced alternative to walking the island’s car-free trails. Riders mount a trained camel and follow a handler on a 30-minute loop between the beach and the adjacent olive groves. The activity operates daily from 10:00 to 18:00, with departures every hour.
What to expect
- Ride lasts 30 minutes, covering a 1.5-kilometre route along the pebble beach and through the olive grove
- Each ride includes a helmet, a safety briefing, and a handler walking beside the camel at all times
- Riders see the 18th-century Vlychos stone jetty and the ruins of a Venetian watchtower on the hill above
- Suitable for children aged 5 and up, with a weight limit of 100 kg per rider
- Photo stop at the water’s edge, where the camel stands still for 5 minutes for personal photos
- Rides depart from the wooden signpost at the eastern end of Vlychos beach, next to the taverna
