Thrifty Car Rental
About
On Hawaii (Big Island), Thrifty Car Rental - Kona International Airport is a car rental agency. The branch sits at Kona International Airport, 73-200 Kupipi St, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740, United States, putting it directly at the island's main arrival point for visitors flying in.
Rentals come with the standard inclusions of a Thrifty booking, and the fleet covers economy cars through to SUVs and convertibles. With a rating of 2.6 out of 5 from 1,084 reviews, the agency draws a steady stream of airport traffic. The website at thrifty.com provides booking and location details for the Kona branch.
The office is positioned within the airport grounds, so pick-up and drop-off happen right after landing or before departure. Kailua-Kona sits a short drive south, while Hilo, Volcano, Waimea, the Kohala Coast, Puna and Captain Cook are all reachable by road.
Travellers arriving by air can collect a car without leaving the airport, which matters because no road or regular ferry links the Hawaiian islands, so inter-island travel is by air. The island's warm tropical climate means daytime temperatures stay fairly consistent year-round, so a rental makes it easy to explore at your own pace.
