Hawaii Jiu Jitsu Academy
About
Hawaii Jiu Jitsu Academy serves Hawaii (Big Island) from 74-5603 Alapa St Unit A-1, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740, United States. The academy sits in Kailua-Kona, on the island's western side, and hawaiijiujitsuacademy.com carries its own information.
A 4.9 out of 5 score across 58 reviews reflects a steady following among people training on the island. Kailua-Kona is one of the main visitor towns on the Big Island, so the academy is reachable from the Kohala Coast and Captain Cook, with Hilo and Waimea further out along the island's road network. The premises occupy a unit within the Kona area's commercial district.
The academy runs jiu jitsu training out of its Kona premises, and the website provides the practical details needed before a first session. English and Hawaiian are both official languages in Hawaii, and Hawaiian words appear widely in place names around Kona.
Since no road or regular ferry links the Hawaiian islands, travel between them is by air, which matters for anyone combining the Big Island with other islands. Hawaiian islands divide into windward and leeward coasts, with wetter conditions on the former and drier on the latter, and Kona sits on the drier side. Hawaiian culture includes hula dance, oli chants and the voyaging traditions of Polynesian navigators.
