Surf Lessons in Mahinog is a beginner-focused surf school located on the white-sand beach of Mahinog, Camiguin. The lessons are conducted by local instructors who teach wave reading, paddling, and pop-up techniques in the gentle, reef-protected breaks. Each session includes a safety briefing and board rental, with the goal of standing up on the board within the first hour.
What to expect
- Two-hour group or private lesson on Mahinog's calm, sandy-bottom surf break, suitable for first-timers and children aged 8 and up.
- Includes soft-top surfboard, leash, and rash guard; wetsuit optional during cooler months.
- Instructors provide land-based drills for pop-up and balance before entering the water, then offer in-water guidance with one-on-one attention for each student.
- You will practice catching white-water waves in waist-deep water, with most students riding their first wave unassisted by the end of the session.
- After the lesson, you can keep the board for an extra hour to practice independently at no additional cost.
- Lessons run daily from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with early morning sessions offering the calmest conditions and fewer crowds.
