About this experience

Pharmacies in Catarman are the primary retail outlets for prescription medicines and over-the-counter drugs in the municipality of Catarman, Camiguin Island. These establishments serve both residents and visitors needing immediate pharmaceutical supplies, with operating hours typically from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM on weekdays. Stock levels for specialised medications can be limited, so carrying a personal supply for chronic conditions is advisable.

What to expect

Most pharmacies in Catarman are located along the main national road near the public market, within a 5-minute walk from the town centre.
Each pharmacy stocks common analgesics, antihistamines, oral rehydration salts, and first-aid items, with a typical wait time of 5-10 minutes for a prescription to be filled.
Pharmacists provide basic medication counselling in Cebuano and Filipino, including dosage instructions and potential side-effect warnings.
A few outlets offer blood pressure monitoring and glucose testing services on-site for a small fee, usually 20-50 pesos per test.
Opening hours are generally 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday to Saturday, with reduced hours on Sunday and no 24-hour service available in the municipality.
The pharmacies suit travellers with minor ailments, parents needing children's paracetamol, and locals refilling maintenance prescriptions for hypertension or diabetes.
