Diving & Snorkeling in Mantigue Island is a guided aquatic activity on the sandy islet off the southern coast of Camiguin. The island’s protected marine sanctuary contains coral gardens, seagrass beds, and a drop-off wall that attracts reef fish, turtles, and occasional rays. Visitors access the site by pump boat from the mainland, with gear and boat transfers arranged on-site.
What to expect
- Guided snorkeling or scuba sessions last 1 to 2 hours, with boat transfer from the mainland included in the standard trip.
- Snorkelers swim over shallow coral tables and anemone clusters at depths of 2 to 5 metres, while divers descend to 12 to 18 metres along the eastern wall.
- The marine sanctuary zone is marked by buoys; a local guide accompanies each group to enforce no-touch rules and point out species like clownfish, parrotfish, and blue-spotted stingrays.
- Between dives, visitors can walk the 500-metre white-sand beach or climb to the island’s viewing deck for a full panorama of Camiguin’s volcanoes.
- Suitable for first-time snorkellers and certified divers alike; rental masks, fins, and tanks are available at the island’s small dive station, but wetsuits are not provided.
- The best visibility occurs from March to May, when calm seas allow clear sightlines of 15 to 25 metres; the site is closed during typhoon warnings.
