About this experience

Restaurants & Dining in New Harbor is the collective name for the eateries, seafood shacks, and taverns clustered around Block Island's working fishing port. The dining options range from casual takeaway counters serving fresh-caught lobster rolls to sit-down restaurants with harbour views. This area is the island's culinary hub, where visitors eat within sight of moored boats and daily catch landings.

What to expect

Most establishments are open from late May to early September, with lunch service starting at 11:30 and dinner until 9:30 pm
Seafood menus feature locally landed species such as striped bass, bluefish, and quahogs, prepared grilled, fried, or in chowders
Several dockside restaurants offer outdoor deck seating directly over the water, where you can watch fishing boats unload their catch
Takeaway counters sell lobster rolls, clam cakes, and fish and chips for eating at picnic tables along the harbour wall
Family-run taverns serve pub-style burgers and fried calamari alongside a short list of local beers and white wines
The dining area suits walk-up customers and small groups; most venues do not take reservations, and queues form at peak times between 6 and 8 pm
