Bali's tropical climate brings two monsoons, with the drier stretch running May to September and wetter months from October to April, so planning around those rhythms helps. Indonesian cooking leans on rice, satay, grilled fish and tropical fruit, flavours that suit a highland stop. Reaching the archipelago relies on domestic flights and fast boats between islands, while international airports on the main islands handle arrivals from abroad. Indonesian is the main language, though English is common in tourist areas, which eases ordering and directions.
