Surf Lessons in Tabanan is a guided surfing programme on the black-sand beaches of Bali’s west coast, near the village of Seseh. The lessons cater to first-timers and intermediate surfers, with certified instructors who provide equipment and safety briefings. Each session takes place in the gentle waves of the Indian Ocean, offering a direct introduction to Balinese surf culture.
What to expect
- Two-hour lesson includes a soft-top surfboard, rash vest, and reef-safe sunscreen.
- Instructors demonstrate paddling, pop-up, and wave-reading techniques on the beach before entering the water.
- Sessions run at low tide, when the sandbar creates waist-high waves for beginners.
- Small group size of maximum four students per instructor ensures individual feedback.
- After the lesson, you can rinse off in the outdoor freshwater shower and store your gear in the on-site lockers.
- Suitable for ages 8 and up; non-swimmers can use a flotation belt provided by the school.
