About this experience

Artisan Markets in Tabanan is a weekly open-air market cluster in Bali’s regency capital, Tabanan town, held every Sunday from 6am to 1pm. The market brings together over 80 local craftspeople selling handwoven textiles, carved wooden masks, and silver jewellery from the surrounding villages. It operates alongside the traditional Tabanan wet market, so visitors can also observe daily produce trading in the adjacent hall.

What to expect

  • Stalls are organised by craft type: textiles on the east side, woodcarving in the centre, and silverwork near the south entrance
  • Each vendor provides a live demonstration, such as backstrap loom weaving or wood chiselling, lasting 10–15 minutes
  • A free guided walk of the market runs at 9am, covering the history of Tabanan’s craft guilds and lasting 45 minutes
  • Visitors can commission custom items, such as a carved door panel or a woven sarong, with delivery arranged within 3–5 days
  • The market includes a food court serving babi guling and lawar, with seating for 120 people
  • Suitable for independent travellers and small groups; the market is wheelchair-accessible via the main ramp on Jalan Gajah Mada
