Hiking Tours in Panarea is a guided walking activity on the smallest of the Aeolian Islands, off the north coast of Sicily. The tours traverse volcanic trails linking the village of San Pietro to the prehistoric village of Punta Milazzese and the thermal bay of Cala Junco. Routes range from two to four hours, with uneven lava-stone paths and moderate elevation gains.
What to expect
- Guided hikes last 2 to 4 hours, covering 4 to 8 kilometres of marked volcanic trails
- Includes a stop at the Bronze Age settlement of Punta Milazzese, with views over the islets of Basiluzzo and Stromboli
- Access to Cala Junco's thermal waters for a swim, with snorkelling gear available on request
- Small group size of up to 10 people, with a certified local guide leading the route
- Suitable for walkers with a moderate fitness level; sturdy footwear and water are required
- Ends at the port of San Pietro, with optional return by boat to nearby islands for an extra fee
