Artisan Markets in Perdika is a weekly open-air market held along the harbour front of Perdika village on Aegina island. It operates every Saturday morning from 8:00 to 14:00, featuring local producers and craftspeople. The market offers a direct look at Aegina's pistachio harvest, olive oil, honey, ceramics, and woven textiles.
What to expect
- Stalls are set up along the waterfront promenade, with the market stretching roughly 300 metres from the fish tavernas to the small chapel.
- Each vendor displays a handwritten sign stating the farm or workshop name and the island district of origin, such as Souvala or Vagia.
- Visitors can sample and buy Aegina pistachios in three forms: raw, roasted, and sugared, plus pistachio paste and liqueur.
- A ceramics stall features hand-thrown pots and plates fired in a wood-burning kiln in the nearby village of Mesagros.
- The market includes a dedicated children's corner where a local potter runs 20-minute clay-shaping sessions for ages 5 to 12.
- Shoppers can watch a live olive oil press demonstration using a small manual press, with tastings on bread from a local bakery.
