About this experience

Surf Lessons in Klong Prao is a beginner-focused surf school located on the sandy beach of Klong Prao Bay on Koh Chang's west coast. The lessons use longboards and soft-top boards suited to the gentle, rolling waves that form in the bay during the November-to-April season. Each session is led by a certified instructor who provides land-based technique drills before entering the water.

What to expect

Lessons run for 2 hours, including 20 minutes of beach practice and 100 minutes of in-water coaching with a maximum of 4 students per instructor.
All equipment is provided: a 9-foot foam surfboard, a leash, and a rash guard; wetsuits are available for rent during cooler months.
You will paddle out to a sandbar 30 metres from shore, where waves break at waist height, allowing you to stand up on your first or second attempt.
The session includes a video replay of your rides from a GoPro mounted on the instructor's board, with a short debrief on posture and paddle technique.
Suitable for first-timers aged 8 and above, and for swimmers who can float unaided; non-swimmers can join with a flotation belt.
Lessons start at 9:00 and 14:00 daily, with a 24-hour cancellation policy; the school provides sunscreen and drinking water on site.
